Letter to parents regarding new school year
07/31/2020, Lemont
Dear Parents,
Certainly, many of you ask yourself whether our Polish School will continue during this very unusual school year 2020/2021.
YES. As of today, we are planning to start the school year on September 11th and 12th.
The plan is that we want to keep classes on Friday and Saturday, and this will depend on the number of students enrolled. The cost of renting the building, cleaning, and now the additional cost of disinfection is extremely high. As we rent the school building from SSCM Parish in Lemont (Archdiocese of Chicago), we are committed to complying with all restrictions that apply to the building of the Saint Cyril and Methodius Catholic School and the State of Illinois on behalf of the Board of Education.
Things are constantly changing, we have meetings all the time, and we are constantly getting new updates.
WHAT WE KNOW TODAY:
- Masks are obligatory (although this may change as well)
- We will take temperatures before entering the school
- We must keep a proper distance
- There is a LIMITED number of desks in the classes, which is associated with a limited number of children on Friday and Saturday, so please enroll your children and teenagers as soon as possible since it is “first come, first serve”.
- Only the principal, teachers, assistants, students, and members of the board may stay in the building.
- Parents may NOT be in the building – therefore, Parents’ Hall Monitoring Duties are currently suspended.
- Children and youth will enter and exit through three designated doors. (exact information will be sent soon)
- After each class, classes / toilets / hallways will be disinfected by a special company.
- We must be prepared that at any moment, we may have to return to e-learning (not planned at the moment, but our school takes this into consideration and is preparing to make lessons effective and attractive for our students)
We all want this nightmare to end. We want to return to normal life without fear, worries, and do’s and don’ts. We want our children to have a normal, healthy childhood, so that they can play and be with their peers, because they need it for normal development.
Our huge request is DO NOT give up. Enroll your children in school. We invite you for an additional two days of enrollment: on Sunday, August 23 and 30 after each Holy Mass at the SSCM church in Lemont, at 608 Sobieski St.
Please note that the number of classroom desks is limited.

We hope to see you all
